Thank you for considering a gift of securities in support of Rice. It is almost always to your advantage to contribute long-term appreciated securities directly to Rice, rather than selling them and donating the proceeds of the sale. Why?

  • You may be able to claim the full market value of donated shares as a charitable deduction on your income tax.

If your securities reside with a bank, trust, brokerage house or corporation: Please complete the Stock Instruction Letter, send the original to your broker, and send a copy of it to Rice. If you hold the paper certificates: Please mail the unsigned stock certificates and a completed Stock and Bond Power form, and a Stock Transfer Form to Rice. Vietnam to donate rice for Marawi residents as part of APEC talks

As part of the talks held at the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, Vietnam, the major source of rice imports by the Philippines, has pledged to support the rehabilitation of war-ravaged Marawi City and initially donated 4,000 bags of rice, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said.

Piñol said that Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang made the commitment during the bilateral talks with the Philippine delegation during APEC forum held in Vietnam.

President Rodrigo Duterte thanked the Vietnamese President and pledged to work in the rescue of Vietnamese sailors abducted by the Abu Sayyaf in the Southern Philippines. By sheer coincidence, Philippine troops succeeded in rescuing the abducted Vietnamese nationals a day after the Bilateral Talks, Piñol said.

According to him, Quang also assured Duterte of his country s support in its agricultural development initiatives.

As of now, the Philippines imports at least 5 percent of its rice requirements from Vietnam and Thailand.

The country s bilateral talks with Vietnam was one of the four engagements of Duterte in the sidelines of the 25th APEC in Vietnam. The three others were with Papua New Guinea, Russia and China.

Donate Free Rice while Learning for Free, donate rice.#Donate #rice

FreeRice.com: Donate Free Rice while Learning for Free

I recently came across this interesting website: FreeRice.com . They have created a very ingenious way to donate food for United Nations World Food Program. I am really impressed by their approach. I am including it here so that it gets the publicity it deserves.

Donate rice

FreeRice.com shows a word, and four possible meanings of that word. You need to select correct answer for that word. If you answer correctly, you get a bit harder question, and if you answer wrongly, you get an easier question. The questions that you answered wrongly are again presented to you after some time so that you can practice, and re-affirm your memory about that word.

Donate rice

Now, you must be thinking that this sounds good to learn vocabulary for free, but what it has to do with free rice. That is actually the amazing part. For each questtion that you answer correctly, FreeRice.com donates 10 grains of rice to United Nations World Food Program. For that, FreeRice.com has tied up with sponsors to show banners on their website. So, whenever you answer a correct question, sponsors pay for the rice. The website itself is totally non-profit based, and sponsors directly pay to United Nations World Food Program.

Donate rice

You must be thinking that what difference would 10 grains of rice make. Tremendous actually. Because people all over the world can play this simple game, cumulative donations are going to be enormous. I checked their stats page, and saw that they have gathered enough rice to feed thousands of people for an entire year! That is amazing.

In fact, I did a simple calculation and found that if all my readers answer just 10 questions everyday for an year, we would be able to donate enough rice to feed more than 1,000 people for a week. And all the time, actually improving our vocabulary further. Isn t that amazing!

FreeRice.com has many other subjects as well, apart from English. You can try your hand at Chemistry, Geography, Language Learning and Maths.

Try out FreeRice.com. Help feed someone, while getting something for yourself. Also consider sharing this with your friends and social networks. More the people know about this, more can we feed hungry people.

(If you are a blogger, I encourage you to promote this website. Our small effort can help in ending world hunger)

    Cows for Cambodia

Cambodia is one of the world’s poorest nations. All rural families dream to own a cow but the reality is that most families will never be able to afford one.

Cows for Cambodia is essentially a “COW BANK”. We loan families a pregnant cow, they must look after it and when it has the baby they get to keep the baby and we take our cow back. It’s more about providing an opportunity to break the poverty cycle rather than a direct handout.

The success of this project has been overwhelming, so much so that the long term goal is to have 1,000 cows in the project which will make Cows for Cambodia one of Asias biggest Agriculture charity projects. But we need your help.

    Donate rice

    Join Cosi in Cambodia

We set off soon for our first hosted tour of Cambodia! Participants fundraise prior to the trip but you get to see where your money goes!

    Animal Welfare is paramount

Our goal is for our cows in the program to be the happiest and healthiest cows in the entire country.

    Where do your donations go?

We ensure that the highest percentage possible of your donated dollars ends up in the hands of the Cambodians who need it.

    World s Fastest Donation

We believe our rice runs are the WORLDS FASTEST DONATION TO RECIPIENT TURNAROUND! It’s something we are very proud of.

Join Cosi in Cambodia and help Cows For Cambodia

In April 2016 we set off on my first hosted tour of Cambodia! We plan on running two or three of these trips each year now giving small groups capped at 30 a travel experience like no other.

We ask each participant to fundraise $2,000 to go towards the charity and best of all you get to see where your money goes! On these trips we take in the best tourist destinations in Cambodia and immerse ourselves in the village where Cows for Cambodia is set up. You will work with the cows and families as well as visit the local school.

We encourage all of you to take an English lesson with the kids whilst you are there!! We will do the rice runs and give away tonnes of rice to families who have next to nothing. We finish these tours with one of our famous VILLAGE FEASTS where we shout the village dinner. During the night the local monks come and do a blessing of the Bull and cows – a spine tingling moment.
